Claire

I believe in the symbiotic nature of the arts, especially the relationship between the written word and its medium. When I was an undergraduate at Wellesley College, I took classes in book arts taught by Katherine Ruffin. Each taste I had of the many aspects of book arts made me want to do more, learn more, and invest more of myself in it. After graduation, I concentrated my energy on my writing. I finished my MFA in Creative Writing in Spring 2011 at The University of North Carolina Wilmington. In Summer 2011 I spent a session at Penland learning paper marbling from master marbler Steve Pittelkow. I'm currently pursuing a second MFA at The University of Alabama's Book Arts Program.

As a person with high ideals, I latched onto the best practices and materials like a sticky bramble when I started this business. For me, there's something very meditative about putting my thoughts on the page. It clears my head of all the noise and clutter so I can move forward through my day with purpose and focus.

I make these books because I love them. Hopefully, you will too.
